Yay for the earthquake idea!

Reminds me of this:

Idea

Recap on what we discussed on Friday:

  1. Obstacle course racing car game with different obstacles & increasing difficulty as the level increases (with minimal controls)
  2. Refer to WY’s blog entry.

Building on WY’s idea, maybe we could simplify the game further so that it uses just 2 buttons to play.

Game scenario

A character balancing a pile of things in each hand starting from left of the screen & moving towards the right.

Your aim

Create earthquake by shaking the room (hit left right button continuously to shake)

Limitations

The intensity of the “shake” is limited. Player has control only as to how fast he/she can hit left/right buttons continuously.

Possible “expansion”

Level 1 – librarian carrying piles of books

Level 2 – waiter carrying plates of food trying to cross the room and there are puddles of water in the room. Tilt the room to try to make the waiter step on the puddle of water and drop all the plates.

Level 3,4,5… – we can think about it again =)

**However this is just a very simple concept, players probably wouldn’t want to return to the game again upon completion. Is the game play innovative?

+1

My computer died and I now have to make-do with an older (and much slower one)... and somehow he/she/it(??) hates me so much that my original post got eaten up.. sheesh.

Here I go again, but less longwinded, lest history repeats itself...

How did that guy do it (see picture above)? Are we thinking along the same wavelength?

Following up on what we had discussed during class earlier, I suppose we can create a game whose core mechanics surrounds this idea of "balancing".

- Take a car, filled it up with as much passengers as possible, earn points to advance to the next stage.
- Choose your vocation... continue to be a "taxi driver" or go on to deliver goods... the more goods the better, blah blah.
- Upgrade your car if your points earned for better features.. more comfy seats perhaps or a better stabiliser...

Let's pause for a moment... be right back... (C'ya guys later!)
